As a patient-driven, patient-focused organization, Myeloma Canada works with over a dozen local support groups across Canada, strengthening the voice of the Canadian myeloma community and improving the quality of life of myeloma patients, their caregivers and families. Myeloma Canada is the only national organization that is uniquely devoted to the Canadian myeloma community.
Your generous support will help Myeloma Canada promote its mission and extend its services to the myeloma community at large. Some donations come from friends or relatives of loved ones who have been diagnosed. Others give in memory of those lost to myeloma. Regardless of the reason you decide to donate, only with your support can we continue to deliver exceptional educational programs, raise awareness of this devastating disease and help drive efforts towards a cure.
Volunteering your time to Myeloma Canada provides a rewarding opportunity to put your special talents to work for the good of others. Being a grass-roots, patient-focused and patient–driven organization, Myeloma Canada relies heavily on the collaboration of volunteers to deliver our programs to the community. Presently, we require community-based volunteers to ensure that Myeloma Canada educational material and newsletters are in-stock and available in local clinics, patient libraries and hospitals. We are always looking for motivated people who are wiling to contribute their skills and time. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please email us at info@myelomacanada.ca or call us at (514) 570-9769.
You can support Myeloma Canada while having a great time at any of our exciting fundraising events. Participate by yourself, bring a friend or, better yet, organize your family, friends or coworkers into a fundraising team. Check our calendar regularly for a list of events you can participate in or support in your area. Sign up to become a member of Myeloma Canada and receive our quarterly newsletter listing upcoming events.
You want to support Myeloma Canada but there is no event in your area? Why not organize one? It can be a large or as small as you can handle as any and all amounts raised contribute to our mission. Host a happy hour or a barbecue; put on a 5K walk-a-thon or sports tournament; run a marathon or shake to the oldies at a dance-a-thon. We’ll give the ideas and support to make it successful. If you are interested in organizing a fundraising event in your community to help support those affected by myeloma, contact our office at 514-940-9769 or e-mail us at info@myelomacanada.ca.
Passing legislation that supports our cancer issues is a challenging process that requires active participation by our volunteers. There are many ways for a volunteer to be an effective cancer advocate.
Cancer is a political, as well as a medical, psychological, social, and economic issue. Life and death decisions about cancer are made every day not just in the doctor's office but both at the federal and provincial government levels. The Canadian myeloma community needs to speak loudly and in unison to ensure that decision-makers nationwide are aware of our needs and understand the urgency to provide access to scientifically-proven advances in treatments.
